Disney and 20th Century Animation have officially released the first teaser trailer for Ice Age 6: Boiling Point (known as La Era de Hielo 6: Mundo de lava in Spanish-speaking markets), marking the franchise's return to theaters after a ten-year break. The last mainline film, Ice Age: Collision Course, debuted in 2016, and fans across Latin America—where the series has always had a massive following—have been waiting for this moment.

The new installment takes a sharp turn from the familiar frozen landscapes. Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, and the rest of the herd are forced to abandon their sub-zero home and venture into the Lost World, an underground ecosystem ruled by volcanic activity. The teaser shows crumbling terrain, molten lava, and prehistoric creatures that threaten their survival. The core storyline pushes the family bonds of the characters to their limits as they search for a new home in a dangerous, fiery environment.

Slapstick Meets Lava

The trailer opens with classic Ice Age humor: Scrat, the saber-toothed squirrel, is blasted into the sky with his tail on fire, still clutching his acorn. The scene then cuts to the herd sprinting from a volcanic eruption, dodging shards of ice and burning rocks. In a slow-motion sequence, Sid swallows a prehistoric bee and crashes into Diego, while a hot rock singes Ellie's fur. It's the same physical comedy that made the franchise a hit across México, Argentina, and Colombia, where dubbed versions have become part of childhood memories.

The teaser also introduces Baby Scrat, a character who first appeared in the Disney+ series Ice Age: Scrat Tales. His big-screen debut adds a fresh dynamic to the chaos.

Original Voice Cast Returns

Disney confirmed that the original English voice cast is back. Ray Romano returns as Manny, John Leguizamo as Sid, Denis Leary as Diego, Queen Latifah as Ellie, and Simon Pegg as Buck. For Latino audiences, Leguizamo's Sid has always been a standout—his energetic, slightly neurotic delivery resonates across cultures. The film is directed by John Donkin and produced by Lori Forte, who have been with the franchise for years.

The Ice Age series has a strong box office legacy. The 2009 film Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs earned $886 million globally, making it one of the highest-grossing animated films of its time. With Boiling Point, the studios aim to replicate that success, especially in Latin American markets where the films have consistently performed well. For context, the franchise's popularity in countries like Brazil and México has often driven strong opening weekends.

Ice Age 6: Boiling Point is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on February 5, 2027. The teaser trailer is already generating buzz on social media, with fans in México City, Bogotá, and Buenos Aires sharing their excitement. Whether the herd can survive the heat remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Scrat's acorn obsession isn't cooling down anytime soon.
