Maestro Gustavo Dudamel will lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a solidarity concert at the Hollywood Bowl on August 23, titled Un Concierto por Venezuela. The event serves a dual purpose: raising critical funds for communities devastated by the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that struck the South American nation, and marking Dudamel's emotional farewell as music and artistic director of the LA Phil.

The earthquakes claimed over 3,000 lives and left tens of thousands without shelter. In response, the LA Phil has pledged that every dollar raised from ticket sales will go directly to the Earthquake Recovery Fund to Support Venezuelan Communities. The fund is administered in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), ensuring that aid reaches both immediate relief efforts and long-term reconstruction projects.
Dudamel, who has long championed music as a tool for social change, emphasized that Venezuela will always be his home. His commitment echoes the work of other artists who have stepped up for the cause, such as Carín León, who dedicated his historic Nu Stadium concert to raising aid for Venezuela, and Karol G's Con Cora Foundation, which rushed aid to children affected by the disaster.
For the Venezuelan diaspora in the United States, this concert is more than a performance—it's a lifeline. Communities in cities like Houston have already mobilized, organizing fundraisers and donation drives. The Hollywood Bowl event amplifies those efforts on a global stage.
